Description Since 1992, the Children Youth and Families Department has provided services to the children, youth, and families of the State of New Mexico, including child care assistance, home-visiting programs, quality PreK programs, family nutrition programs, child welfare and child protective services (including abuse and neglect investigations and foster care), juvenile justice (including parole and probation, and secure facilities), behavioral health, services for youth transitioning from facilities to communities of from the child welfare system to independent adulthood, and domestic violence services. CYFD's 35 offices statewide help thousands of children and their families every year, and work actively with community coalitions, programs, and service providers to help thousands more. CYFD is dedicated to improving services for the children, youth, and families of New Mexico through advocacy, cooperation, and coordination with state agencies, communities, clients, and families.
